Terms of use
By installing Far Off, you accept these terms. They are short because the game is too.
1. The service
Far Off is a mobile game published by Agence Debord EURL (France). Every day, five pairs of places are offered to all players; you guess the distance between them and score points. The daily challenge is free, with no account.
2. The “Unlimited” subscription
The Unlimited subscription lifts the limit of five games a day: you play as many games as you want, back to back, and they count on the leaderboard. The five daily games stay free. Two plans are available, monthly and yearly. Prices are shown in the app, in your currency, before any payment.
- Automatic renewal. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the rate then in force, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Payment and management. Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase. You manage and cancel the subscription in your Apple account settings (Settings › your name › Subscriptions) or in Google Play (Profile › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions). Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
- Cancellation. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for; unlimited access stays open until then. The publisher issues no pro-rata refunds; refund requests go to Apple or Google.
3. Right of withdrawal
Under European Union law, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal on digital purchases, exercised through Apple or Google. By starting to access the content within that period, you agree that it begins immediately.
4. Game rules and fair play
Your score rests on your own estimate, made without outside help within the time allowed. Answers arriving after the deadline score zero. The publisher may cancel a score or restrict access in cases of obvious cheating (automation, clock manipulation, exploiting a flaw).
5. Content
The photos come from Wikimedia Commons and are distributed under their respective licences (Creative Commons), with attribution available in the app. Distances are calculated as the crow flies (great-circle) between the reference coordinates of the places; they may differ slightly from other sources.
The game, its name, its logo, its interface and its texts belong to Agence Debord EURL. You are free to share your scores and screenshots.
6. Availability and changes
The service is provided “as is”. The publisher may modify it, add or remove features, or interrupt it for maintenance. If the service is permanently discontinued, current subscriptions are not renewed. The publisher is not liable for interruptions caused by Apple, your carrier or your device.
7. Liability
Far Off is a game; no decision should rest on the distances it displays. To the extent permitted by law, the publisher’s liability is limited to the amount paid over the past 12 months.
8. Personal data
How your data is handled is described in the privacy policy.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute falls to the competent courts in France, without prejudice to the protective rules applicable to consumers in their country of residence. You may also use the European online dispute resolution platform.
