Privacy policy
Far Off is a game published by Agence Debord EURL (France). This page says what the app collects, why, and how to delete it. It is written to be read in two minutes.
What we don’t do
- No advertising, no ad network, no advertising identifier.
- No sale or transfer of data to third parties.
- No recording of your screen or your sessions.
- No email address, name or account required to play.
What we collect, and why
An anonymous session. The first time you open it, the app creates a random technical identifier (no name, no email). It is used to record your games for the day and to prevent replaying a round. It is stored on our servers (Supabase, hosted in the European Union).
Your nickname. To appear on the leaderboard, you choose a nickname. It is public: other players see it next to your score. You may add a country, optional, shown the same way. Neither is needed to play — you can dismiss the leaderboard prompt with “later”.
Your games. For each round: the pair of places, your answer, the real distance, the score and the response time. That is the game itself — without it, no score, no streak, no leaderboard.
Usage measurements. Technical events (opening the app, round played, subscription screen shown, purchase) are sent to PostHog (hosted in the European Union) to understand how the game is used and to fix what does not work. They are attached to the same anonymous identifier, never to an identity.
Subscriptions. Purchases go through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, depending on your phone. We never see your payment method. The subscription status (active, in trial, expired) is handled by RevenueCat, attached to the same anonymous identifier, to open unlimited access across your devices.
Diagnostics. If you have allowed Apple or Google to share crash reports, an anonymised technical report (device model, system version, error trace) may reach us through the App Store or Google Play. It does not contain your games.
This website
The pages of faroff.app count their visits with Umami, an analytics tool we host ourselves in Europe. No cookie, no identifier that follows you from one day to the next, no profile: only the page viewed, where you came from, the country, the device type, and clicks on the page’s links and buttons. None of it can identify you, here or anywhere else. That is also why this site asks you nothing before showing you its content.
What we don’t collect
Not your location, not your contacts, not your photos, not your name — the nickname you choose does not have to be yours. The photos you see in the game are ours (Wikimedia Commons), not yours.
For how long
Games and the anonymous identifier are kept for as long as the app is installed, then at most 24 months without activity. Usage measurements are kept for 12 months. Subscription data follows the length of the subscription plus statutory accounting obligations.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of or erasure of your data, or object to its processing, by writing to bonjour@faroff.app. Write from the device concerned if you can: we will tell you how to find the anonymous identifier of your installation. Deleting the app erases the local data; server data is erased on request within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority, or with your own national authority.
